🚴 Cycling & Gravel — Starting from the Domaine
From the portal, you can directly access the Canal des Alpines and the forest trails of the Alpilles Regional Natural Park. Two routes are available:
Route 1 — Eygalières & Romanin Vineyard Loop (~40 km, moderate difficulty)
ℹ️ Asphalt roads + gravel paths. Some technical passages around the Romanin vineyard.
Itinerary :
- Mas des Figues → Val d'Enfer (due south towards the Alpilles)
- Val d'Enfer → Les Baux-de-Provence (medieval hilltop village)
- Les Baux → Maussane-les-Alpilles (village at the foot of the Alpilles)
- Maussane → Le Destet (olive groves and vineyards — stop at the Abbey of Pierredon)
- Le Destet → Eygalières (beer stop + daily special at the village brewery!)
- Eygalières → Pont Romain → Romanin vineyard (bypass of the aerodrome)
- Romanin → Saint-Paul-de-Mausole → Canal des Alpines → Mas des Figues
Route 2 — Gravel in the wild Alpilles: Saint-Gabriel Chapel (~30 km, moderate to high difficulty)
ℹ️ Varied terrain: roads, gravel, technical trails. Good cycling skills recommended.
- Mas des Figues → Mas de Chabert (country lanes, olive groves and orchards, 3-5 km)
- Mas de Chabert → GR6 / Cabane du Garde (moderate climbs, views of the Alpilles, 5-7 km)
- GR6 → Vallon de la Lèque (limestone cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation, technical section, 4-6 km)
- Vallon de la Lèque → Saint-Gabriel Chapel (remarkable Provençal Romanesque architecture, 3-4 km)
- Return via Saint-Étienne-du-Grès and Maussane-les-Alpilles (10-15 km)

🥾 Hiking — The Alpilles Grand Circuit
An exceptional 25km circuit (6 to 8 hours) starting from Le Mas, crossing the most beautiful viewpoints of the Alpilles Regional Natural Park. Difficulty: moderate to difficult.
ℹ️ Bring water and good walking shoes. Very steep passage between the TV antenna and Romanin — beware of vertigo.
Full itinerary:
- Mas des Figues → Mas de Bovis (20 min, paths lined with olive and cypress trees)
- Mas de Bovis → Mas des Piboules (5 min, agricultural landscapes)
- Mas des Piboules → GR6 via the Gaudre de Bovis (45 min, slightly hilly)
- GR6 → Les 4 Cantons (45 min, rocky path, beautiful views of the mountain range)
- The 4 Cantons → crossing D27 → Orientation Table (20 min, splendid panoramic view)
- Orientation table → Baumayrane (25 min, pines and holm oaks)
- Baumayrane → Watchtower (25 min, fire lookout point, breathtaking view)
- Watchtower → La Caume car park (35 min, crossing D5)
- Caume car park → Rocher des 2 Trous (25 min, unique geological formation, ideal for photos)
- Rocher des 2 Trous → Plateau de la Caume (25 min, 360° panoramic view of the Alpilles)
- Plateau de la Caume → Television Antenna (25 min)
- Antenna → Romanin (45-60 min, very steep and rocky descent — caution!)
